Unlike many platforms, Vuemagnet relies primarily on browser local storage and session storage rather than traditional HTTP cookies. The practical effect for you is similar — data is stored in your browser to support functionality, remember your preferences, and provide a consistent experience — but the technical mechanism differs. This policy covers both.

1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website you visit. They are sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit, or to another website that recognises that cookie. Cookies are useful because they allow websites to recognise a user's device and retain certain information between visits.

Local storage and session storage are Web APIs built into modern browsers that allow websites to store data directly in your browser, similar to cookies but with some differences: local storage persists until explicitly cleared, while session storage is automatically erased when you close your browser tab or window. Neither is transmitted to our servers automatically on every request — data is only read or written when our application code explicitly does so.

Persistent storage remains on your device until you delete it or until an expiry condition set by the application is met. Session storage is temporary and is cleared when you close the browser tab.

2. Types of Storage Technologies We Use

Vuemagnet uses the following browser storage mechanisms:

• Local storage (persistent) — stores data indefinitely in your browser until you or the application explicitly clears it. Used for authentication sessions, returning visitor recognition, and user interface preferences.
• Session storage (temporary) — stores data only for the duration of a single browser session. Automatically cleared when you close the tab or window. Used for in-progress form drafts and checkout flow continuity.

We do not set traditional HTTP cookies for core Vuemagnet functionality. Some third-party services integrated with our platform (such as Stripe for payments) may set their own cookies, which are governed by those providers' policies.

These storage entries are strictly necessary for Vuemagnet to function. Without them, core features such as signing in, staying logged in, and completing a purchase would not work. You cannot opt out of essential storage while continuing to use the service.

All session storage entries are automatically cleared when you sign out of your account.

4. Functional Storage (Enhanced Experience)

These storage entries enhance your experience and provide features like form pre-fill and interface preferences. They are not strictly required for the platform to operate, but significantly improve usability — particularly for visitors returning to a lead magnet page they have previously submitted a form on.

When you visit a lead magnet page or interact with our website, we collect the following information for attribution and analytics purposes. This data is not stored in your browser — it is captured at the point of interaction and stored securely in our database.

UTM Campaign Parameters

If a lead magnet link includes UTM parameters (e.g., ?utm_source=youtube&utm_campaign=summer), we capture those values from the URL when you visit the page. This allows the content creator who built the lead magnet to understand which campaign, channel, or content piece drove the visit. These values are saved to our database at the point of form submission — they are not stored persistently in your browser.

Standard parameters captured include: utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content, and a ref parameter used to identify QR code scans.

Device and Location Information

When you visit a lead magnet page, we automatically detect your approximate device type (iOS, Android, or Desktop) using your browser's user agent string, and your approximate geographic location (city and country) via a call to a third-party IP geolocation service (ipapi.co). This information is associated with any form submission and stored in our database to help content creators understand their audience.

We also record the HTTP referrer (the page you came from) and the source domain of the visit. None of this information is stored in your browser — it is captured server-side at submission time only.

In the interest of full transparency, Vuemagnet does not currently use:

• Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager — we do not load any Google tracking scripts.
• Facebook Pixel or Meta tracking — no Meta advertising or tracking code is present.
• Advertising network cookies — we do not participate in any behavioural advertising networks or retargeting platforms.
• Cross-site tracking — we do not share browsing data with third-party advertising networks.
• Tracking pixels or web beacons in emails — transactional emails sent by Vuemagnet do not contain tracking pixels.
• Social media tracking scripts — no Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or TikTok tracking pixels are loaded.

If this changes in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy and, where required by law, seek your consent before deploying new tracking technologies.

Clearing Local Storage in Your Browser

You can remove all Vuemagnet-stored data from your browser at any time by clearing your browser's local storage and session storage. Instructions for common browsers:

• Google Chrome: Open Developer Tools (F12) → Application tab → Storage → Local Storage / Session Storage → right-click the Vuemagnet entry → Clear. Or go to Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data → check "Cookies and other site data."
• Mozilla Firefox: Open Developer Tools (F12) → Storage tab → Local Storage / Session Storage → right-click to delete. Or go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data.
• Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data → search for "vuemagnet" → Remove.
• Microsoft Edge: Open Developer Tools (F12) → Application tab → Storage → Local Storage. Or go to Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data.

Please be aware that clearing storage across our domain will sign you out of your Vuemagnet account and remove your saved visitor preferences (such as form pre-fill data).

Disabling JavaScript or Using Private Browsing

Because Vuemagnet is a JavaScript application, disabling JavaScript in your browser will prevent the platform from functioning. Using your browser's private or incognito mode will prevent local storage from persisting beyond the session, which means visitor pre-fill data and device fingerprints will not be stored between visits.

Requesting Data Deletion

If you have submitted your details on a Vuemagnet-powered lead magnet page and would like your data removed from our database, please contact us at privacy@vuemagnet.com with your name and email address. We will process your request in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Information for Lead Magnet Visitors

Vuemagnet is a platform that enables content creators and businesses ("Vuemagnet Customers") to create lead magnet pages hosted at addresses like vuemagnet.com/m/[identifier]. If you are visiting one of these pages (not vuemagnet.com itself), the following applies to you:

• The lead magnet page is hosted and operated by Vuemagnet on behalf of a Customer, but the data you submit (your name, email) is collected by the Customer and stored in their Vuemagnet account.
• Vuemagnet stores visitor data (name, email, device fingerprint, visit timestamps) in your browser's local storage for the purpose of form pre-fill on future visits, as described in Section 4 above.
• We capture the UTM parameters, device type, and approximate location present at the time of your visit, as described in Section 5.
• The Customer who owns the lead magnet is responsible for their own privacy disclosures regarding how they will use the contact information you provide.
• If you have questions about how a specific Customer will use your data, please contact them directly.

Vuemagnet is not responsible for the privacy practices of the Customers who use our platform, though we require all Customers to comply with applicable data protection laws.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the storage technologies we use, changes in applicable law, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
